Happy Sunday Shark Families,
Coaches Corner:
Great job at Shark-a-Thon! I am so impressed by the amount of laps you all swam! Thank you parent volunteers for counting laps and helping us make it possible! Also, thank you to our Junior coaches who helped counting laps and helping with meals! Your efforts are appreciated and you are seen!
Theme of the Week: Did you know a group of sharks is called a shiver?
We are all here to work as a group and make sure we support our team mates. Were you signed up for several difficult strokes for the meet? Do your best to benefit not just yourself but your team mates too! Sometimes we have to work extra hard to make sure our team gets the best results. I am always so proud when I see you working together, accepting assignments, cheering for each other, pushing your relay mates! It's so important to make sure we show up for each other!
So be the best shark shiver that ever was!
~ Coach Leslie
Swimmer of the Week:
6U
- Jayden G - Jayden is an amazing example of what quiet inclusion looks like. He makes room for his teammates on the wall, hands people their kickboards when they need it, and sets a wonderful example for his lane mates every day.
7/8
- Savanna L - Savanna makes friends with anyone in her lane. She is kind and sweet with any lane mate she gets. Her inclusion of everyone makes Coach very proud! Swimmers like her are exceptional!
9/10
- Addy P - Addy sets an example each practice of what it is to be a stellar swimmer! She shows up on time ready to go and is always a good example for those around her. Addy often helps her lane mates out when they are confused.
11/12
- Hailey Schieckoff- Hailey is very kind to her teammates! She helps out her lane mates by reminding them what the next set is if they forget, and being kind to everyone no matter who is in her lane!.
13/14
- Kora C - Kora is an example of how we include everyone on our team! She always wants all the 13/14s to swim together and Coach thinks it's great to encourage everyone swimming together. Kora shows our Yellow group how to work hard when they swim with the Blue group!
15-18
- Macie B - Macie is always willing to help out any of her teammates - at practice and at meets. She even filled in for a relay last weekend so the team could get a swim. She was dry and dressed for after swim meet activities. All coaches were so proud of her for stepping up!
Rio Del Oro Spring Invitational:
We were one of ten teams at the invitational and had 24 Sharks attend. Congratulations to all swimmers on your new personal records, you all did a sharktastic job!
Thank you to the Stumbo family for creating an awesome team area and to the Halterman family for always keeping us fueled with amazing smoothies. Our Sharks families are swimtastic!
Shark-a-Thon:
We are so proud of all the laps our Sharks swam on Wednesday, you all are amazing!
Last chance to submit pledges is Thursday May 28th at 11:59pm
Meet Attendance:
While we know unexpected things come up, many meet entry changes from Time Trials and Woodcreek could have been avoided with proper notice.
PLEASE HELP US IN STARTING THE MEET ON TIME.
- Deadline to decline is the SUNDAY before a meet, do this now if you already know.
- Coaches start working on meet entries on Monday, all entries are due Wednesday. It is very important to know who will NOT be at a meet so coaches can seed meets appropriately, including building relays.
- If you miss the Sunday
deadline, please send an email to BOTH coach and computer:
[email protected]
[email protected] - If you are scheduled to volunteer, please reach out to Annie via text or email.
- If you need to leave a meet by a specific time, please add that in your attend note or send an email. This helps to avoid last minute relay changes or a relay to be scratched entirely.
If you know your swimmer will not be at a meet, please let us know by signing into your Sharks Swim Topia account and go to the calendar.
When you scroll down to the meet you know you will be gone, you will see a green button
"Meet Entry". When you click that you will see your swimmer and a button that says "Edit". Go ahead and click that and in the drop down menu select "Not attending this meet", then click save. You do NOT need to declare if you will be at a meet. Here is a link to a video on how to decline the meet.
