Happy Sunday Shark Families,
Coaches Corner:
What a week we’ve had! It was cold and rainy and then warm and beautiful. I am so proud of all of you who showed up and worked through the cold and stormy practice!
This week ends with time trials which is our first meet of the season. The team will be split into two, the Great Whites vs. the Megalodons, and the team that wins will get a special treat. It is important that we show excellent manners and good sportsmanship. Congratulate your opponents, thank timers and officials, and cheer for everyone!
The theme for the week is showing up. What does that mean? Well, it means coming to practice ready to give your best. When you come to practice with a bad attitude, refuse your sets, or constantly ask when practice is over it doesn’t really show us that you are there ready to work and give your best. So, show up every day with the best possible attitude so that we can all have a fun and rewarding practice. Bring water, use the bathroom before practice, and give 100%.
Coach Leslie
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. “- Aristotle
Swimmer of the Week:
- 6U Emma H – Emma swims with our 7/8 group and she is always actively listening and is very respectful.
- 7/8 Arlyn T – Arlyn is such a spirited swimmer that her exuberance can sometimes get the best of her. But this week she was able to manage both and swim hard, listen, ask questions, and be extra respectful of coach, her teammates, the equipment, and herself. Great job Arlyn!
- 9/10 Luke L – Luke shows up every day to practice asked coach questions about what to do next. He even raises his hand to make sure that he knows what the next set is because sometimes it’s hard to hear coach.
- 11/12 Veronica D – Veronica is amazing at paying attention and following directions. When she does have a question, she asks very respectfully!
- • 13/14 Zoe L – Zoe is always asking how she can improve her stroke while making sure her teammates and other lanes are listening when I start talking.
- 15-18 Logan K – Logan always has such a great attitude during swim practice. He greets coach and his fellow swimmers every day with a smile.
Food-rasier Wednesday:
Officials & Computer Training:
The NorCal Swim League Officials and Computer training will be held at your very own Shark Tank on Wednesday April 29th at 6:30pm. If you're looking to learn more about all things swim, but not ready to be an Official, you can still attend the training to receive all the information.
Starter Practice:
If you need to miss a practice, please make sure it’s not Thursday April 30th. This is a much needed practice, especially for new swimmers, to experience the Deck Ref & Starter. This loud buzzer can be scary for new swimmers and taking directions from someone besides their coach can be different. The Starter practice is to help new swimmers adjust and for returning swimmers to practice official starts
Sharknado Time Trials:
Check in for BOTH swimmer and volunteers-all shifts, is at 6:45am.
Every Friday before a meet, an email will go out with all the details you need, PLEASE READ IT.
Hospitality:
We need donations for every home meet, including Time Trials. Please view the sign up link below, we greatly appreciate you!
