Happy Sunday Shark Families,
Coaches Corner:
Breaststroke week is in the books! While we are focusing on one stroke per week for now after Time Trials our practices will no longer revolve around one stroke or skill. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the way our season has begun. The swimmers and coaches are working so hard, and we can see the improvements every day. This week I had the opportunity to watch several practice groups, and I am so proud of all of our efforts. I would like to encourage you to come chat with me and share your thoughts or ask any questions you have. It is very important for the coaching staff and I that we keep lines of communication open so we can have a highly successful season. Coach Savanah will join us this week and be with us until around mid-May, when Coach Lexi joins us, to assist with our large groups. We are so excited to have her on board!
The theme for this week is respect. Respect for yourself, respect for coaches, respect for the facility, respect for equipment. Coaches have a plan that swimmers should follow. Talking back to coach, making rude comments, taking long trips to the bathroom during practice, or throwing equipment around are signs of disrespect for yourself and for the coaches. We love sharing our time with you and respect allows for that continued enjoyment for everyone.
Coach Leslie
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. “- Aristotle
Swimmer
of the Week:
- 6U Griffin S. – Griffin pushed through the cold and wind AND showed up everyday to practice.
- 7/8 Jemmie D – Jemmie works very hard and listens to Coach. She doesn’t give up and pays attention to instructions.
- 9/10 Logan S – Logan is always ready for what’s next! He listens during practice and takes advice from his coaches applying it to his swims and pushes through even when it may be difficult.
- 11/12 Kaiwi T – Kai pushes through every set. His goggles fell off during the start on a sprinting set and he finished his 50 yard sprint without them!
- • 13/14 Sophia S – Sophia is always prepared and ready to learn! She has worked hard this week taking advice from her coaches and trying new things even if they may be hard.
- 15-18 Matthew D – Matthew is a great example of an amazing swimmer. He takes corrections from Coach and fixes it immediately. He is a great example of how you should behave in the water during practice.
Food-rasier Wednesday:
Applebee’s Breakfast Fundraiser:
A huge thank you to all for supporting our first fundraiser of the season, it was a great success! We surpassed our goal of 200 tickets and almost sold out with 213 tickets sold, the max is 220. We can’t wait to hang up our Sharks pictures at Champs and show our team spirit!
Officials & Computer Training:
The NCSL Officials and Computer training will be held at your very own Shark Tank on Wednesday April 29th at 6:30pm. If you're looking to learn more about all things swim, but not ready to be an Official, you can still attend the training to receive all the information.

How to Declare for a Meet - Sunrise Sharks
Starter Practice:
If you need to miss a practice, please pick another day than Thursday April 30th. This is a much needed practice, especially for new swimmers, to experience the Deck Ref & Starter. This loud buzzer can be scary for new swimmers and taking directions from someone besides their coach can be different. The Starter practice is to help new swimmers adjust and for returning swimmers to practice official starts.
Parent Contact Info for Swim Meets:
Parent contact info will be supplied to the team parent at our swim meets. We do this in the event your swimmer needs you and the team parent cannot find you.
Fundraising and Photo Checks:
If you submitted a check or two for Fundraising and Photos, checks will be cashed on Monday 4/20/26.
Just a reminder your Volunteer check will NOT be cashed unless you do not meet the volunteer requirements by the end of the season.
QR Codes:
Did you know that if you see a QR code in our emails from your phone you can click and hold the QR code and it will give you the option to open the link in your web browser? That is a super cool feature of many phones now!
Go Sharks!
