Coaches Corner:

That’s a wrap on our first regular season together! I am so honored to have shared this season with you! All our hard work was put on display this weekend and I was so proud of every single one of you! The Eureka Championships are only a small measure of what I have seen through the season from each of you. You have improved your technique, gotten legal swims, shown up at practice to work hard, and, of course, dropped time. But more importantly, I have seen you be good teammates and show each other love and support. You have given that to me as well, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I can’t wait to see you back on our deck ready to swim in March! But first…Awards Ceremony on Wednesday! GOOOOOOOO SHARKS!

Now that the season is over what are your plans? Lots of us play several sports and that is fantastic as it will help keep you in shape. But, if you don’t have a plan or if you haven’t thought about it fall swim is an amazing way to continue improving our swim skills, staying in shape, and continuing to compete (if you want). There was information shared about four teams near us, I encourage you to look at it and join a fall program. If you still have questions about swimming in fall or are unsure if a fall program is for you, lets chat. I know at least one coach and many families at all of the teams that were shared and there is something for everyone out there.

Congratulations to all of our Sharks who qualified for the Meet of Champions (MOC)! The meet will take place this weekend at the Roseville Aquatics Complex. If you have a moment come by and cheer on a fellow Shark!

Swimmers of the Week:

6U

• Reese W – Reece always has a great attitude on the pool deck, she’s always helping out her teammates and coaches. Reece puts in all her effort into practice and always tries her hardest.
• Kyrie W – Kyrie was new to the team this year and he has shown such great improvement. Coach is proud of all his hard work.

7/8

• Kinsley H – Kinsley is a great team leader and a great motivator for her teammates. She has shown great improvements in her swimming this season.
• Declan B – Declan has really shown a lot of hard work and reflection this week. When given pointers he takes them with pride and works to fix it. He has pushed through every practice and continues to work on his technique.

9/10

• Savannah Q – Savannah is always reflecting on what she can do better and what she needs to work on. She frequently asks questions and works on her technique at practice.
• Steven R – Steven is always in a good mood at practice and looking for pointers and advice to improve his swimming. He reflects in his swimming because he immediately takes corrections and incorporates them in.

11/12

• Ava T – Ava tried really hard this week and took corrections very well. Ava asks questions to understand what is being asked of her.
• Jaxxon L – Jaxxon is super positive and very respectful to Coach. He really tries hard to focus and pay attention during practice and works hard at meets.

13/14

• Lilly M – Lilly shows reflection in her swimming by asking questions when she is unsure so that she does the set or activity well and with a full understanding.
• Matthew M – Matthew asks questions about sets and technique and tries his very best to implement the advice given. If something seems off with wis swimming he reflects and asks for clarification.

15/18

• Slavic L – Slavic always comes to practice with a good attitude and makes sure her teammates are on track. She was such a great help for the team early in the season when we were short staffed and was great with the kids.
• Nathan H – Nathan came to practice with a great attitude everyday and always was involved and attentive.

Parent Reminders:

• Awards Ceremony is this Wednesday at 6:30pm in the Rusch Gym. Come dressed to impress, or not, whatever makes you comfortable ;) All swimmers will be recognized and receive an award for the season, along with high points awards and coaches awards. Refreshments will be provided at the end of the ceremony.
• Last chance to claim items from Lost & Found, all remaining items will be donated or trashed at the end of the night.

Fall Swim:

Fall Swim is a great way to continue working on your skills and endurance. Fall programs have a huge emphasis on technique and with longer practice times, endurance is greatly improved. Sunrise Sharks encourages all swimmers to consider a fall program, some have the option to continue thru winter. Although Sunrise no longer offers a fall team but we do provide information on fall teams in the area. Sunrise Sharks are not affiliated, nor we as a team recommend any fall program, but encourage you to choose the best fit your family.

We want to thank Valina & Nicole for their leadership, time and energy helping on the board over the years. You both will be missed, but we look forward to seeing you back at the Shark Tank next season. Our new board will be introduced Wednesday at awards ceremony.
