Coaches Corner:
Time Trials was so amazing!! I am so proud of all of you! We did great and really have things to focus on now. Thank you for a great meet. This week our theme will be “get comfortable being uncomfortable.” It is so important to not let the small things bother us while we swim. Water in your goggles? Finish your race first and then deal with that. Tired? Push yourself harder so you can make it through your race. The stroke makes you feel uncomfortable? Embrace that and work through the mechanics.
While no one got an official disqualification this meet the slips were written and I have reviewed them. I was also able to see the swimmers individually in action. There will be some movement of swimmers based on the results from the meet. This is a good thing. Swimmers that need extra support will be able to get that. Please do not encourage your swimmers to go off the blocks at meets if the coaches have asked them not to. We want them to have good starts that will help their swims be legal not just repeat improper starts. While the coaches have no control of what your swimmer does once those whistles get blown, some parental support and reminders in this area would be greatly appreciated.
This week we will work on the disqualification infractions. This means we will work on breast, fly, finishes, touches, turns, and then have sprinklings of the other strokes. We will also continue working on our endurance. I have all of the disqualification slips. I wanted to give them to the swimmers, but they will get lost in swim bags. If you are interested in your swimmer’s slips let us know by email and we will get them into your dry hands.
4/28-5/1 Swimmers of the Week are:
6U Girls – Olivia N. worked extremely hard doing the whole lap without stopping on the wall or holding onto the lane line. Her hard work is a great show of sportsmanship.
6U Boys – Griffin S. is always helping to clean up after practice, even if the equipment left out is not his. That is a great example of great sportsmanship and being a great teammate.
7/8 Girls – Kinsley H. shows great sportsmanship by being super respectful to Coach and always trying her hardest.
7/8 Boys - Simon C. is a little firecracker! He displays great sportsmanship by always being ready to go and helping out his teammates.
9/10 Girls – Clara B. shows up for practice on time and ready to work hard and gives her best when she is in the water. Clara also gives her teammates recommendations and has helped by being Coache’s example when Coach explains something that not everyone knows how to do. This week through these actions Clara has displayed great sportsmanship.
9/10 Boys – Striker B. shows great sportsmanship by working hard during practice and taking corrections on board and making everything look better than the time before. Striker is also easy to coach because he is respectful and kind to his group mates.
11/12 Girls – Irelynn H. is very outspoken and very coachable. She is also able to make Coach laugh.
11/12 Boys – Xavier L. shows great sportsmanship by always being on top of his intervals and asking Coach to give him faster intervals and more laps.
13/14 Women – Tori N. is a huge help during practice. She is a huge help explaining and helping to clear up any confusion about sets in her lane. Tori often checks in with the people in her lane and the ones around her to see if everyone understood the set that we were about to do. This has allowed Coach to be able to explain things to others and save time to get more yards in. This has been a great act of sportsmanship by making sure that everyone is prepared.
13/14 Men – Max S. shows up prepared every day, both physically and mentally. Max has adjusted well to his new group and continues to be a leader. This week he helped the returning high school swimmers with the sets that were new to them. Max has shown great sportsmanship.
15-18 Women – Peyton B. shows great sportsmanship by communicating well with Coach all the time and by doing her sets well with no complaints.
15-18 Men – Logan K. shows great sportsmanship by being very respectful to all coaches and by being able to take corrections very well.

Lost & Found
If you’re missing anything from a swim meet, Sharks has our own lost & found tub that is kept next to our shed in the caged area behind the pool deck showers. Feel free to check it any time.
Parent Reminders:
As the sun comes out & things heat up, so do our slithery neighbors in the park. Just a reminder: please don’t play with or pickup any wildlife—especially snakes! Rattlesnakes like to warm up on sunny days, and while they might look sleepy, they’re definitely not cuddle buddies.
Swimmers, that means: look, don’t touch!
Also, before you head home, give your clothes & bag a quick shake—you never know what little creepers might try to hitch a ride!
Thanks for keeping it safe, respectful, and just a little bit wild (in a good way).
